Former Big Brother Naija housemate Neo Akpofure has threatened legal action against a woman who accused him of rape on social media, describing the claim as false and defamatory.

The allegation surfaced on Tuesday, February 17, when an X user with the handle @notralia accused Akpofure of sexual assault, claiming they were former “friends with benefits” during their time at the University of Calabar. The woman alleged that after discovering Neo was in a relationship, she confronted him at his residence, where she claimed the assault occurred.

In response, Akpofure, through his legal representatives, issued a strong denial of the claims. His lawyers described the allegation as “entirely false, malicious and defamatory,” accusing the accuser of deliberately damaging his reputation and exposing him to public ridicule.

In a legal letter dated February 18, 2026, issued by E.L. Akpofure, SAN & Co., the firm identified the accuser as Ms Arikan Udoka and accused her of publishing defamatory content against their client.

“The allegation falsely portrays our client as a sexual offender and a criminal, thereby subjecting him to public odium, reputational injury and emotional distress,” the letter stated.

The legal notice demanded the immediate deletion of the post and any related publications, a clear public retraction, and a formal apology acknowledging that the allegations were untrue. It also requested a written undertaking that no further defamatory statements would be made.

The law firm warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would result in legal action, including the filing of a civil defamation suit under Nigerian law.
