Explosion Kills Four, Injures 21 Others in Yobe State Community

At least four people have been confirmed dead and 21 others injured following an explosion along the Katarko-Goniri Road in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The victims, mostly residents of Gotala Community, were reportedly heading to the popular Buniyadi market when their vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted along the route.

Local sources said the blast occurred suddenly, suggesting the IED was buried on the road and detonated upon impact.

The deceased have since been taken to their respective families for burial, while the injured are receiving treatment at the Yobe State Specialist Hospital and the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but security operatives have reportedly been deployed to the area to assess the situation and prevent further incidents.
