Chief Austin Oguejiofor, a developer, on Saturday drummed support for the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in his task of enhancing the aesthetic of the nation’s capital through infrastructure development.

Oguejiofor, Chairman, First Rotechon Group of Companies, in a news conference in Abuja, noted that since Wike’s appointment as minister, he had been committed to ensuring that the Abuja master plan was not distorted.

He therefore urged Nigerians to support the FCT minister in his bold and pragmatic steps to ensure that the glory of the nation’s capital as a world class city was restored and sustained.

According to him, since Wike’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu as FCT Minister in the last two years, the city and its suburbs have been transformed.

“Both residents and visitors to Abuja are rejoicing that he is on the saddle of the FCT administration.”

He noted that the decaying and abandoned infrastructural development of the FCT were now taking shape.

“This shows that Abuja has taken its rightful place as Nigeria’s capital city,” he said.

Oguejiofor, also the developer of the Abuja Airport Garden City, added that the FCT as the capital city of Nigeria, should be a pride to Nigerians and Africans based on its well planned landscape.

“Nigerians and visitors to the FCT can attest to the rapid development of the nation’s seat of power with massive infrastructural development, which had drastically transformed the face of the city including the suburbs.

“As a developer, I can testify that we have not seen it this good with the development of FCT before the administration of Wike.

”Since the appointment of the minister, he blocked all leakages used to siphon public funds meant for the development of the FCT, with stringent financial discipline and cutting cost of governance.

“He promptly mobilised contractors to go back to work, using the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, and budgetary allocation to the FCT, and he is always on ground at the sites to ensure that contractors are working and completing their jobs,” he said.

The developer also said that in the area of security, the minister had ensured that street lights were massively installed and rehabilitated, making the city beautiful and captivating at night.

According to him, the insecurity in the FCT before now was a top challenge, but the minister prioritised it, and today there is tremendous improvement in the security of lives and property of residents of Abuja and environs.

“The six area councils are not left behind as both primary and secondary schools have been renovated and new ones built; there has also been constructing 120km of rural roads and the rehabilitation of Federal Secretariat phase one.
