The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a directive for the immediate demolition of unauthorized structures in the Sabon Lugbe South District Layout. Wike made the announcement during an unscheduled visit to the area in Abuja on Tuesday, accompanied by heads of security agencies.
The Minister emphasized that structures lacking proper documentation from the FCT Administration would be taken down, condemning the developers as land grabbers. He noted that the buildings were erected without approval from the Development Control Department, violating FCT land use regulations.
“These developers have no valid documents, and we will not tolerate this,” Wike stated.
He instructed the Director of the Development Control Department, Town Planner Mukhtar Galadima, to work with security forces to execute the demolition and reclaim the land. Wike also warned that anyone attempting to obstruct the process would be arrested.
