The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner for the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Hon. Musa Dikko, has appointed Om’Oba Jerry Adesewo, Editor-in-Chief of OurNigeria News Magazine and Chairman of the FCT Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), as an Ambassador of the Public Complaints Commission, FCT.

The pronouncement was made during a courtesy visit to the PCC by the FCT leadership of NANTAP, led by Adesewo, at the Commission’s office in Abuja.

Hon. Dikko, a former Chairman of Bwari Area Council, said the appointment reflects the Commission’s recognition of the strategic role of creative communication in promoting civic responsibility, early conflict resolution, and public awareness.
Strengthening Civic Engagement Through Creativity
Speaking during the visit, Adesewo described NANTAP as the umbrella body for theatre artists and allied practitioners, noting that the association is committed to deploying creative tools in support of good governance and social cohesion.

“Theatre is a powerful instrument for change,” he said. “Through Theatre for Development, awareness campaigns, radio drama productions, and applied theatre training, NANTAP can support the PCC in reaching communities, simplifying complex issues, and encouraging citizens to resolve grievances peacefully.”

He emphasised that creative expression remains one of the most effective ways to engage communities and prevent minor disputes from escalating into major social challenges.
Commissioner Commends Patriotism, Affirms Partnership
Responding, Hon. Musa Dikko expressed strong enthusiasm for the proposed collaboration, commending the association for its sense of patriotism and willingness to contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

“Thank you for coming to us,” he said. “You have exactly what we need. I am encouraged to see Nigerians who still believe in this country and are willing to work for its progress.”
The Commissioner noted that many societal problems could be addressed more effectively through preventive engagement and communication, adding that partnerships with credible professional bodies are essential to achieving the Commission’s mandate.

Hon. Dikko also used the occasion to urge Nigerians to reject despair and cynicism about the country’s future.

“I believe in Nigeria, and I am glad that you do too,” he said. “Nothing should be impossible in this country. If we do not respect Nigeria and work towards her greatness, then who will?”

He stressed that the appointment of Adesewo as PCC Ambassador underscores the Commission’s commitment to inclusive governance and citizen participation.
Role of the PCC Ambassador
As PCC Ambassador for the FCT, Adesewo is expected to support the Commission’s public engagement efforts, promote awareness of citizens’ rights, and help foster a complaints-free society where disputes are resolved before escalating into larger conflicts.

The appointment marks a new phase of collaboration between the Public Complaints Commission and the creative sector, reinforcing the role of culture and communication in strengthening democracy, accountability, and social harmony in the Federal Capital Territory.
