Federal High Court Announces December 19 Start Date for 2025 Christmas Vacation
The Federal High Court (FHC) of Nigeria has announced that it will commence its 2025 Christmas vacation on Friday, December 19, 2025.
In a statement issued by the FHC’s Director of Information, Mrs. Catherine Oby Christopher, the court will resume full operations across all its Judicial Divisions on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
She explained that the vacation timetable was released in line with Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
“The Federal High Court hereby issues notice of its 2025 Christmas Vacation as well as the approved roster of vacation judges,” the statement read.
It added that the schedule was duly signed by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho.
Despite the vacation period, the Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt divisions—the core judicial centres—will remain open to the public. Only cases involving enforcement of fundamental rights, arrest or release of vessels, and matters of urgent national importance will be entertained during this period.
The court also released its list of vacation judges:
- Abuja Division: Justices Emeka Nwite and Mohammed S. Liman
- Lagos Division: Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac D. Dipeolu
- Port Harcourt Division: Justices P. M. Ayua and A.T. Mohammed
- Enugu Division: Justice Folasade Ogunbanjo
Justice Tsoho extended his Christmas and New Year goodwill message to all judges of the Federal High Court, wishing them a restful holiday season.
