The Federal Government of Nigeria has condemned the deadly attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, which occurred on Friday, Dec. 20.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, Kimiebi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed deep shock and sadness over the incident, which claimed five lives and left over 200 people injured.
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to express her sincere condolences to the Government and People of Germany following a car attack on a crowded Christmas market on Dec. 20, 2024, in Magdeburg, Germany,” the statement read.
The ministry described the attack as “highly condemnable” and extended heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families.
“Our thoughts are with the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the families of all those impacted by the dreadful action,” the ministry added.
The tragic event has drawn widespread condemnation globally, with calls for enhanced security measures at public gatherings during the festive season.
