FG Declares May 1 Public Holiday to Celebrate Workers’ Day

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in commemoration of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo acknowledged the vital role Nigerian workers play in the nation’s progress, describing their commitment and sacrifice as instrumental to the country’s global standing.

“There is dignity in labour. The dedication and commitment to the work we do is vital to nation-building,” Tunji-Ojo said, urging workers to embrace innovation and productivity as key drivers of national development.

He also called on the workforce to elevate the standard of service in both the public and private sectors to ensure all Nigerians benefit fully from the nation’s resources.

The minister reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while fostering an environment of peace necessary for economic growth and industrialization.
