Firefighters Rescue Mother, Two Children from Collapsed Kano Building
The Kano State Fire Service successfully rescued a woman and her two young sons on Friday after they were trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building in the Makwarari area of Kano Municipal Local Government.
The Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the rescue in a statement issued the same day. He explained that the one-storey residential building, measuring 30ft by 40ft, collapsed around 9:30 a.m.
“We received an emergency call from one of our staff members, Ibrahim Isah, informing us of the incident. Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the location,” Abdullahi said.
The victims, identified as 35-year-old Balaraba Abba and her two sons, Abdulnasir Jilani, 12, and Abdullahi Jilani, 9, were pulled out alive and transported to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
