The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Digital Museum of Dynamic History and Television Studio at the scheme’s headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking during the inauguration, Tinubu described the projects as tools for promoting civic education and instilling national values. She emphasized that they symbolize the immense potential of Nigerian youth, unified in purpose and enriched by the country’s diversity.

“The Digital Museum is not just a collection of artifacts; it is a living chronicle of our shared history, values, and aspirations,” she said. “It showcases the selfless service of NYSC members who have left lasting impacts across various sectors.”

The First Lady highlighted the importance of history in national development, noting that understanding the past allows citizens to better navigate the present and shape the future. She commended the NYSC for embracing technology, aligning with global best practices to preserve its legacy and lessons for future generations.

She further linked the initiative to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to harness technology and innovation to drive inclusivity and digital economic growth.

Tinubu applauded the NYSC for over 50 years of fostering national integration, bridging gaps between youth potential and community needs. She also celebrated Nigerian youth, describing them as resilient, innovative, and full of boundless energy.

Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, lauded the initiative, emphasizing its role in documenting the contributions of Nigerian youth. “The youth demographic makes up 70% of our population, demonstrating their strength, courage, and determination,” he said.

Olawande urged young people to draw inspiration from the projects and continue making positive contributions to society.

NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Yu’shau Ahmed, described the museum as a legacy project that will serve as a hub for research, documentation, and cultural preservation.

“The museum will not only house artifacts and memories but also become a major tourist attraction, highlighting the invaluable contributions of corps members to national development,” Ahmed said.

He added that the digital enhancements would make the museum a center for learning and inspiration, providing researchers and visitors access to materials documenting the NYSC’s societal impact.

The initiative underscores the NYSC’s commitment to innovation and its role in shaping the future of Nigerian youth.
