Former Miss Nigeria Praises New Queen’s Resilience, Confidence

Chioma Obiadi, the 2016 Miss Nigeria winner, has commended the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Adetshina, for her exceptional self-confidence and determination, encouraging young girls to follow her example.

Obiadi, the 40th Miss Nigeria and a Geology graduate from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, made these remarks during an interview with newsnen in Lagos.

She praised Adetshina’s courage and determination throughout the 2024 competition, highlighting her resilience after facing setbacks in South Africa.

“I’ve been in her position, and I’m incredibly proud of her journey,” Obiadi said. “The way she persevered despite challenges speaks volumes about her inner strength and confidence. This kind of determination will serve her well, not just in pageantry but in life.”

Obiadi also described Adetshina as a true ambassador for Nigerian culture and values, congratulating her on the victory and praying for a successful reign.

She urged young girls to adopt Adetshina’s fearlessness and assertiveness as they pursue their own goals.

“I congratulate our resilient queen and wish her all the best at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico,” Obiadi added.

Adetshina, 23, was raised in South Africa by a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother. She will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe grand finale in November, having triumphed over 25 contestants to win the national title.
