Four Arrested Over Attack on Emir Sanusi’s Palace in Kano
Police in Kano State have arrested four individuals linked to Sunday’s attack on the Kofar Kudu palace residence of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Spokesperson for the state police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests on Tuesday, stating that the suspects are currently in custody and under investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has reportedly established a panel to probe the incident and uncover all those involved in the disturbance.
According to Haruna, the unrest was allegedly sparked by supporters of the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, who targeted the palace gate, disrupting public order.
While the identities of the arrested individuals have not yet been made public, Haruna noted that efforts are ongoing to track down additional suspects.
“We are treating the matter seriously. Investigation is ongoing, and more arrests may follow,” he said.
The police have called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as steps are taken to ensure peace and prevent further violence.
