The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered no fewer than 73 stolen vehicles across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) between January and December 2024.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Olusegun Ogungbemide.

Mohammed attributed the success to the efficiency of the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) portal, which has proven instrumental in tracking stolen vehicles and disrupting criminal activities across the country.

“This remarkable achievement is a testament to FRSC’s relentless commitment to enhancing national security, strengthening intelligence gathering and sharing, as well as enhancing the safety of lives and properties of road users,” he said.

According to him, the stolen vehicles were recovered during intelligence-driven operations conducted by the FRSC in collaboration with other security agencies at the point of registration.

The recovered vehicles include four Toyota Highlanders, one Toyota Lexus, 21 Toyota Corollas, 17 Toyota Camrys, six Toyota Siennas, six Lexus 350s, three Lexus ES350s, one Toyota Hilux, one Toyota RAV4, one Toyota Celica, one Toyota Venza, one Suzuki Bus, one Honda Pilot, one Honda Ace, two Honda Accords, one Daihatsu, one Mercedes-Benz car, one MAN truck, one Pontiac Vibe, and two Qlink motorcycles.

Mohammed commended FRSC personnel for their exceptional bravery, professionalism, and dedication, emphasizing that the Corps remains committed to ridding the nation of criminal elements through swift and proactive measures.

“This will not only save innocent lives but also protect the economic interests of Nigerians,” he noted.

The Corps Marshal urged vehicle owners to ensure they provide all necessary information during vehicle registration, as proper documentation aids intelligence gathering and facilitates timely recovery of stolen vehicles.

“The Corps will not relent in its efforts to make Nigerian roads safe and secure for all users. We also urge members of the public to continue supporting the Corps in this quest for safer roads in Nigeria,” he added.

Mohammed reassured Nigerians of FRSC’s unwavering commitment to road safety, security, and crime prevention, stating that the agency will continue pushing the boundaries of excellence in road safety management.
