FRSC sensitises motorists to traffic regulations in Jigawa

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has embarked on community sensitisation campaign to create awareness on traffic rules and regulations in Jigawa.

The Sector Commander, Aisha Saad, said this during a public enlightenment exercise at Gujungu market in Taura Local Government Area of the state.

She said the exercise was designed to check reckless driving and ensure safety on the roads, adding that the Corps was geared towards driving behavioural change among road users, especially drivers.

Saad, who dentified causes of road traffic crashes as speeding, overloading of passengers, animals and goods, wrongful overtaking, and human factors, expressed readiness to change the trend.

The commander said the Corps had extended its outreach to motor parks, places of worship and startegic locations to enlighten motorists on the risks associated with reckless driving.

Mr Ado Adam’s, the Acting FRSC Unit Commander in charge of Gujungu, said the campaign was part of strategies to curb carnages on the roads.

Also speaking, Suleiman Gujungu, Chairman, National Union Transport Workers (NURTW) in the area,  commended the gesture, and pledged support to the corps.

He said the union would collaborate with the FRSC to fight against violation of traffic rules among its members.

Mr Hambali Zarga, Chairman, Taura Local Government Council, lauded the corps for its public enlightenment, traffic control, rescue services, among others.

Zarga assured the council’s readiness to support the corps to ensure safety on the roads and a healthy society.
