Gary Neville says only Liverpool can stop Arsenal from winning Premier League title
Former Manchester United defender and football pundit, Gary Neville, has tipped Liverpool as the only club capable of challenging Arsenal for the Premier League title this season.
Neville made the comment while analyzing the current title race, noting that Arsenal’s impressive form has made them strong favourites to end their two-decade wait for the top-flight crown.
The Gunners extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points after a convincing 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, marking their ninth straight victory in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Liverpool ended a poor run of four consecutive league defeats with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa, a result that eased pressure on manager Arne Slot ahead of a tough run of fixtures.
Despite Liverpool’s inconsistencies and Manchester City’s struggles this season, Neville believes Jürgen Klopp’s side remain the only realistic threat to Arsenal’s title ambitions.
“So who’s going to take it off them? Arsenal would have to beat themselves not to win it,” Neville told Teamtalk. “I don’t see City getting back to their dominant level right now. Pep is a genius, but his team aren’t at their best. Liverpool are the only team, but they need to get back on track quickly.”
While Liverpool showed signs of recovery with their latest victory, defensive weaknesses persist. Arsenal, by contrast, look more solid than ever, having recorded their seventh consecutive clean sheet against Burnley.
