German police have arrested a Chinese citizen, identified as Yaqi X, on suspicion of spying for China, according to an announcement by prosecutors on Tuesday.
The arrest took place in the eastern city of Leipzig on Monday, with police conducting searches at her residence and workplace.
Prosecutors revealed that Yaqi was employed by a logistics company operating at the Leipzig/Halle airport. She is accused of repeatedly transmitting sensitive information about flights, cargo shipments, and passengers to Chinese intelligence agencies.
The data allegedly included specific details about the transport of military equipment and personnel linked to a German armaments firm, collected between August 2023 and February 2024.
