Germany Lifts Missile Limits, Trump Blasts ‘Crazy’ Putin

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Monday announced the removal of range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine, a joint move with France, Britain, and the United States. This decision now permits Ukraine to strike military targets within Russia using Western-supplied arms.

The policy shift came in response to Russia’s most extensive drone and missile assault since the start of the war, triggering a sharp rebuke from former U.S. President Donald Trump.

“I don’t know what the hell happened to Putin,” Trump told reporters in New Jersey. “He’s gone absolutely CRAZY!” he later posted online, accusing the Russian leader of needlessly killing civilians.

Despite his outrage, Trump stopped short of committing to additional military aid for Ukraine. While he claimed he is “absolutely” considering new sanctions on Russia, critics say he has previously made similar threats without follow-through.

The Kremlin dismissed Trump’s comments as the result of “emotional overload.”

Analysts say the policy changes from Western allies aim to close what they describe as a “strategic void,” allowing Ukraine to more effectively respond to Russian aggression.
