Telecom giant, Globacom, celebrated the 2025 edition of the Ojude Oba Festival in grand style, rewarding participants with cars, tricycles, and several other prizes as part of its 20th year of sponsoring the iconic cultural event.

Held on Sunday in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, the festival drew thousands, including top dignitaries such as the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa; and the Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, Olorogun Sunny Kuku.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of two brand new Suzuki Celerio cars — one to 52-year-old Opeoluwa Osisanwo, a member of Egbe Tobalase Okunrin, recognized for his outstanding leadership and long-standing service to the Ojude Oba Planning Committee, and the other to a trader, Idowu Olabisi, who won through Glo’s special consumer promo.

“I never knew people were watching me. I was just serving my land of birth to the best of my ability,” an emotional Osisanwo said, as he received his award from Governor Abiodun and Barr. Musawa.

In addition to the cars, four tricycles (Keke) were presented to winners from different parts of Ijebuland, including Hassan Toheeb, Adenike Olanrewaju, Gazal Temitope, and Lawal Tosin. Other prizes included power generators, sewing machines, grinding machines, and bags of premium Basmati rice shared among the Regberegbe groups.

Governor Abiodun commended the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, for over six decades of purposeful leadership, while Minister Musawa praised the Ojude Oba Festival as a vibrant expression of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

The 2025 edition, featuring nearly 100 Regberegbe age-grade groups and colorful horse-riding displays by Balogun families, reaffirmed the festival’s place as one of Nigeria’s most cherished cultural showcases.
