The Nigerian Army has commended troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade for their remarkable achievements in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North-East and has charged them to sustain the momentum in flushing out remnants of terrorist elements.
The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, Brigadier-General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, gave the charge on Friday during an operational visit to the Brigade Headquarters.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the GOC’s visit was aimed at assessing the combat readiness, morale of the troops, and inspecting operational equipment and logistics.
A military source disclosed that the visit formed part of a deliberate and continuous effort to enhance operational efficiency in the fight against insurgency within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
Upon arrival, Brig.-Gen. Unachukwu was received by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier-General N. Abdullahi, who conducted him through an inspection of the Brigade’s operational equipment and briefed him on the unit’s strategic posture.
During the visit, the GOC lauded the troops for their impressive accomplishments, particularly in deep-clearing operations within the Sambisa Forest, where they showcased courage and commitment.
“Your outstanding operational success in clearing terrorists deep into the Sambisa Forest is a testament to your unwavering dedication, unrelenting passion, and unmatched bravery,” Brig.-Gen. Unachukwu said.
“I, therefore, commend you for your professionalism, teamwork, and sacrifice. However, I know that there is more work to be done.
“I urge you to maintain this momentum, push further, and ensure that our sector and the nation at large are completely free from the scourge of terrorism,” he added.
Brig.-Gen. Unachukwu further reassured the troops of the Nigerian Army’s continuous commitment to providing adequate support to operational formations across the theatre.
The visit also featured an in-depth briefing session on future operations and strategic plans by the Brigade to consolidate recent gains and dismantle remaining terrorist enclaves in the region.
