The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, organised an expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Gombe State where all federal lawmakers and other bigwigs turned out to show that the party is formidably on ground ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dr Ibrahim Dankwambo, senator representing Gombe North Senatorial District, while speaking said that the PDP remained strong, united and still enjoyed grassroots support base.

Dankwambo called on members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to concentrate on re-building the party, noting that it was not time for political ambition.

He said that the task at hand for every member was to ensure that the party remains strong and united ahead of the 2027 election.

“I call on our members that this is not time for looking for political offices; this is time for building our party.

“If you have an ambition without a platform, you don’t have an ambition; So we are building our party as at today,”
Dankwambo, who is the party leader of PDP in the state noted that the party at the national level had made progress in effort to reposition the party as a formidable party.

He said that PDP remained the only party that had concluded ward, local government and state and zonal congresses and had fixed date for its national convention to conclude everything about party matters.
On calls for him to contest for President in 2027, Dankwambo said “ I want to state clearly that I don’t have the intention now.

“But God owns tomorrow to decide if I will contest for the political office of the President.

“I have done it before but as at today, I don’t have that desperation or intention to contest; so don’t call for me to contest for this office now.

“If we finish building our party, only God knows tomorrow; God gives power to whom he wants to give power,” he said.
He commended the efforts of party members in the state while urging residents of Gombe to give PDP another chance in 2027, saying “If you trust us again to give us power, we will not betray you,”

Other lawmakers including Senator Anthony Yaro, representing Gombe South, Hon. Ali Isa JC, Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency, Hon. El-Rasheed Abdullahi for Dukku/Nafada, Hon. Garba Inuwa, representing Yamaltu/Deba and Shehu Obed Paul representing Kaltungo/Shongom all gave their goodwill messages affirming their commitment to the task of rebuilding the party towards reclaiming power in 2027.
