The factional leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State have agreed to harmonise their structures and work together for the success of the party in the forthcoming general election.

Sen. Idris Umar, Leader of the party in Gombe State, told newsmen in Gombe on Wednesday after a meeting held to unite two factions of the party.

There had been two factions of the party in the state: the Malam Danladi Yau-led faction and the Auwal Barde-led faction which have been operating separately for months.

Umar said that there was no longer faction in the state as far as ADC is concerned.

He stated that the reconciliation of all parties involved in the factions portend a sign of victory for the party in the state and Nigeria.

According to him, the unity of the party will help to strengthen the party towards challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress-led government in the state and country.

“We are now one united family in Gombe State under the leadership of Auwal Barde as the state chairman while Danladi Yau is now the Acting Secretary of the party.

“With this reconciliation, we are now much more stronger and we will move together as one family towards victory in 2027,” he said.

Umar said that the reconciliation and other strategic engagement of relevant stakeholders in the state was part of the move to position the party as a major opposition coalition to challenge APC in 2027.

“A united opposition party is a threat to the ruling party and ADC was the most formidable opposition party in Nigeria today,” he said.

He urged members to remain loyal and committed to the progress of the party in its efforts to make Nigeria better for all citizens.

Umar hinted that the party’s revalidation and registration exercise would hold between February and March to boost its membership across the state.

He said that the ADC in Gombe State was focused on increasing its voter base and political presence through state-wide mobilisation efforts and registration.

Speaking to NAN, Yau a factional leader of the ADC in the state affirmed Barde as the chairman of the party in the state, stressing that there was no more faction in the state.

Yau who introduced himself as the secretary of the party said his interest was to see the party united ahead of 2027.

While urging all members to work together towards ensuring a united team that would unseat the APC in Gombe State and Nigeria, Yau appealed to them to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Card.
