Gov Fintiri signs N583.3bn appropriation bill into law

Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa on Wednesday signed the N583.3 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year into law following the passage of the appropriation bill by the State House of Assembly.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Fintiri presented the proposed budget to the state assembly on Dec. 19 and passed to law by the Assembly on Monday.

NAN reports that the approved budget comprises N209.64 billion for recurrent expenditure, representing 35.94 per cent of the total estimate, and N373.69 billion for capital projects, accounting for 64.06 per cent of total spending.

Fintiri, said the budget aimed at strengthening infrastructure, expanding education and healthcare services, enhancing job creation, and supporting citizens’ welfare among others.

According to him, the budget was prepared after wide consultations and reflects the aspirations and needs of communities across the state.

He said his administration is committed to the safety and security of citizens.

He explained that the government would deploy some of the trained forest guards to Hong Local Government Area to address emerging security challenges.

Fintiri appreciated the effort of the state’s Assembly members for their support and understanding for the development of the state.

He said a lot had been achieved in the state and at the end of 2026, more would be recommended.

He further pledged for effective implementation of the 2026 budget toward the development of the state in the areas of infrastructure, health, education among other sectors.

He also assured improved working relations with the media and other stakeholders for more development.

NAN also reports that the budget was signed in the presence of the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta; the Speaker of the State Assembly, Chief of Staff Government House, Dr Edgar Amos and other lawmakers.
