Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has called on youths in the state to be law abiding in spite of security challenges confronting some parts of the state.

Mutfwang made the call on Saturday when he visited an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Mushere Community of Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that gunmen had recently attacked Mushere and some adjoining communities, killed scores and destroyed properties worth million.

The governor, who vowed to end killings in the state, also charged the youths to shun drug abuse, alcoholism and other social vices.

“I am here to commiserate with you over the recent incident that claimed the lives of some of our brothers and led to your displacement.

“Mushere is very important as it produced our first civilian governor in the fourth republic; Mushere is also a gateway to other communities.

“So, we will do everything possible to protect our people in Mushere and other communities across the state.

“As youths, you are our are assets, while you unite to protect your communities, you must be law abiding and shun all voices, ” he said.

Mutfwang, who commiserated with the victims of the attacks, promised to ensure they returned to their various abodes soon.

He also promised to improve the condition of infrastructure in the communities, particularly roads to enable security agencies to respond to distress calls in record time.

The governor thanked the security agencies for their efforts towards tackling the circle of attacks in rural communities in the state.
