At least four people were hospitalized after the shooting, which occurred near the university’s Student Union, according to reports from NBC News.

The FBI responded to the scene, and a spokesperson for the Tallahassee Police Department confirmed that the suspect is now in custody. Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect or a possible motive for the attack.

FSU issued an emergency alert at approximately 12:30 p.m. EDT, warning students, faculty, and staff to shelter in place. “Dangerous Situation: An active shooter has been reported in the area of Student Union.
