The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Mr. Yusuf Musa, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, by suspected gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday.

Spokesperson for the Command, Superintendent of Police Rahman Nansel, disclosed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia, the state capital.

According to Nansel, a police patrol team from B Division discovered a suspicious scene around 2 a.m. along Shinge Road, Lafia, when they found a Peugeot pick-up van belonging to the victim abandoned with all its doors open.

“Upon closer examination, officers observed that the gate to the victim’s residence was also open, prompting immediate security concerns.

“A swift search of the premises confirmed that he was missing, along with his GMC vehicle, bearing registration number KUJ 88 PA, raising strong suspicion of an abduction,” Nansel said.

He explained that the State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, immediately activated a tactical response by alerting all police divisions across the state to begin a coordinated search.

The police divisions in Akwanga, Andaha, Garaku, and Kadarko were reportedly placed on high alert and directed to intensify surveillance on major exit routes in a bid to track down the suspects and ensure the safe return of the abducted official.

Nansel added that the Commissioner had ordered a full-scale manhunt and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to rescue the victim unhurt and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He appealed to the public to support ongoing efforts by providing relevant information through the Command’s emergency lines: 08036157659, 08037461715, and 07032532391.
