Hajj Gazette News and Current Affairs Magazine has congratulated Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf following his nomination as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced Yusuf’s nomination on Wednesday, a move the publication described as a sign of the administration’s commitment to strengthening leadership in Nigeria’s Hajj management system.
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the nomination has been forwarded to Senate President Godswill Akpabio for confirmation in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2026.
Hajj Gazette, in a statement by its Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer, Malam Auwal Ahmad Umar, noted that the nomination comes at a crucial time as the commission prepares for upcoming Hajj operations, which require effective coordination, transparency and administrative efficiency.
The magazine said Yusuf’s diplomatic and public service background equips him to lead ongoing reforms and improve service delivery to Nigerian pilgrims. It also expressed confidence that, if confirmed, he would strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, maintain regulatory standards and promote operational excellence within the commission.
