Harris Surges Ahead of Trump in Three Battleground States: New Poll

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has gained a lead over her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, in three critical battleground states, according to a recent poll.

The New York Times/Siena College survey, published on Saturday, reveals that Harris has secured 50 percent support from voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, while Trump holds 46 percent in each of these pivotal states.

This poll comes just weeks after Harris officially launched her presidential bid, following President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race due to concerns about his age and capacity for another term.

Since her campaign launch, Harris has garnered strong support from key Democratic demographics, particularly young voters and communities of color. Additionally, she has attracted significant backing from major donors and leading Democratic lawmakers.

The selection of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice-presidential running mate has further energized her campaign, drawing increased enthusiasm for the Democratic ticket.

However, the Biden administration’s unwavering support for Israel amid the ongoing Gaza conflict remains a contentious issue, especially in Michigan, home to one of the largest Arab American populations in the United States.

At a recent rally in Detroit, Harris faced interruptions from protesters demanding an end to the Gaza war. She responded, “You know what, if you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I’m speaking,” a statement that has sparked criticism from Palestinian rights advocates and progressive groups.

Advocates have urged Harris to diverge from Biden’s pro-Israel stance, calling for an end to arms shipments to Israel and other measures.

Since entering the race, Harris has been the target of repeated attacks from Trump and his running mate, JD Vance. In a lengthy Q&A with reporters on Thursday, Trump dismissed Harris and Walz as weak candidates, despite their apparent rise in the polls. He also expressed regret over not facing Biden, insinuating that the president was ousted from the race by an unconstitutional conspiracy.

Trump’s campaign has harshly criticized the Harris-Walz ticket, branding it as “every American’s nightmare,” while Trump personally attacked Harris’s intelligence and racial background, claiming she avoids news conferences due to a lack of capability.
