Hazy weather: FRSC issues safety advisory over poor visibility in Gombe
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a safety advisory, cautioning motorists in Gombe State to exercise caution following prevailing hazy weather conditions across several parts of the state.
Mr Samson Kaura, the Sector Commander of FRSC in Gombe State who issued this advisory in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Wednesday.
Kaura said that the prevailing hazy weather had resulted in poor visibility on highways.
He advised all motorists to prioritise their safety by minimising speed and adhering to road safety advisory issued during such weather conditions.
“The prevailing situation might reduce the visibility conditions and this is why we are advising all motorists to comply with traffic regulations and adopt safe driving practices at all times.
“Drivers are advised to reduce speed and adhere to the prescribed speed limit especially on highways affected by the weather conditions within and outside Gombe State.
“You must maintain distances to allow adequate reaction time and ensure that headlight, tail light and brake lights are fully functional and used appropriately during day time where visibility is impaired.
“Avoid dangerous driving like wrongful overtaking, over speeding and distracted driving while ensuring wind screens are clean and wipers are functional to improve visibility,” he said.
Kaura called on all motorists to prioritise their safety and avoid any activities that could threaten their lives and those of their passengers while on the roads.
