Hilda Baci Preps for World’s Largest Jollof Pot Attempt in Lagos
Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci is turning up the heat once again—this time with a test run for what could become the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
A viral video circulating online shows Baci stirring a massive batch of jollof rice in a custom-built pot, surrounded by a team of assistants and eager onlookers. The video, spotted by PUNCH Online on Saturday, is part of her preparation for a historic attempt scheduled for September 12, 2025, during the Gino World Jollof Festival at Muri Okunola Park, Lagos.
The event promises a celebration of West African cuisine, culture, and music—and will be free to attend, with live performances lined up to entertain the crowd.
Baci, who made international headlines in 2023 for breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, emphasized that this new feat is about more than setting records.
In a recent Instagram post, she wrote:
“Six metres wide. Six metres tall. On September 12, we make history together. Because what is jollof without you to share it with?”
As anticipation builds, fans across the region are gearing up to witness another milestone from one of Nigeria’s most beloved culinary figures.
