‘I Have Nothing Left’ — Nollywood Actor Don Richard Battles Kidney Disease, Pleads for Financial Support
Veteran Nollywood actor Don Richard has made a heartfelt appeal for financial assistance as he battles kidney disease, revealing he has exhausted all his resources trying to stay alive.
In an emotional video shared Tuesday evening on Instagram by fellow actress Biola Adebayo, the ailing actor opened up about the toll his illness has taken on his life and family.
“When my wife was told about my health, she started crying. I told her, ‘another man is a lucky man,’ and begged her to take care of our children—our twins,” Don Richard said tearfully.
“She sold our house and car just to pay for my treatment. Now, I have nothing left.”
Biola Adebayo, who has been vocal about the plight of ailing Nollywood actors, included his bank details in the post, urging the public to donate and help save her colleague’s life.
“Don Richard has been down with kidney issues for a while now. He desperately needs our help,” she wrote.
In a separate development, Nollywood actor Chinedu Okeke, known for his roles in action thrillers like Issakaba, Peace Maker, Shina Rambo, and V-Boot, has responded to claims that he quit the movie industry due to being typecast as a criminal.
Social media speculation earlier this year suggested Okeke grew tired of violent roles and asked filmmakers to consider him for more diverse, softer characters. It was also rumored that he stepped away from acting after audiences began to associate him with real-life crime due to his on-screen personas.
However, in a recent interview, Okeke firmly denied the rumors.
“I never said any such thing. I’m proud of the roles I’ve played—they made me who I am in Nollywood,” he said.
“I’m still very much interested in acting and ready to play any character, including romantic roles.”
He used the opportunity to call on producers and directors for fresh casting opportunities, saying he’s eager to return to the screen full-time.Let me know if you’d like this reformatted for a newsletter, social post, or entertainment blog.
