An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Wednesday ordered the remand of two brothers, Abimbola Oyetunde, 51, and Kolawole Oyetunde, 47, in a correctional facility over an alleged attempt to murder three individuals.

The siblings are facing charges bordering on conspiracy, attempted murder, threatening violence, causing grievous harm, and malicious damage.

Magistrate Mrs. Oluwabusayo Osho declined to take their plea, citing lack of jurisdiction. She instructed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

The case was subsequently adjourned until July 31 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime in 2024 at Osundeyi Village, Ibadan.

He alleged that the brothers attempted to kill Tunde Lawal, Olasunkanmi Osundeyi, and Jamiu Alapa by attacking them with machetes.

“The defendants also threatened violence against the trio and incited hoodlums to attack them and their family members,” Folaranmi said.

He further stated that the accused persons maliciously destroyed mud houses and structures valued at N10 million, belonging to the complainants.

According to Folaranmi, the offences are in contravention of Sections 516, 319, 86, and 451 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
