Ibadan Gas Explosion Kills Three in Ona Ara Community

A gas explosion on Friday night, November 21, claimed three lives in the Biodun Alaadun area of Ona Ara Local Government, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident occurred when a tanker was discharging gas into a retail outlet, triggering a blast that affected people within the shop and its surroundings. Among the victims were the owner of the gas shop and two others who were nearby at the time.

General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka, who led the response team, confirmed the casualty figure.
“Contrary to claims that several people died, three lives were lost, including the shop owner and those dispensing the gas,” he said.

Emergency responders have since restored normalcy to the area as investigations continue into the cause of the explosion.
