INEC Confirms 2.2 Million Voters Collect PVCs for Edo Governorship Election
Ahead of the Edo governorship election on Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 2,249,780 registered voters have successfully collected their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) in the state. This accounts for 85.57% of the total 2,629,025 registered voters in Edo.
Mr. Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, shared the update in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday. According to Olumekun, 379,245 PVCs, representing 14.43% of the total, remain uncollected as of Monday, Sept. 16, following the close of the extended collection period.
INEC has made detailed data on PVC collection available on a Polling Unit basis across the state, which is crucial for political parties, candidates, and the public as they prepare for the election on Sept. 21. Voting will take place across 4,519 Polling Units, and the breakdown of collected and uncollected PVCs for each unit is available on INEC’s website.
Olumekun advised those interested in viewing the comprehensive 128-page document to visit the commission’s website for further details.
