Amid rising tensions with Israel, Iran has cancelled all flights from its airports, effective from 9 PM tonight until 6 AM Monday morning.

The move follows growing concerns over potential retaliatory attacks from Israel after Iran launched around 200 ballistic missiles in response to the July 31 assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which Iran attributes to Israel.

The missile strikes were also a retaliation for Israel’s killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on September 28, alongside Iranian commander Abbas Nilforoushan.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed a strong response, targeting Iran’s oil and nuclear facilities.

The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran cited “operational limitations” as the reason for the cancellations but provided no further details. Several international carriers, including Turkish Airlines and Pegasus, have also suspended flights to Iran, Iraq, and Jordan due to security concerns, while Emirates Airlines has halted flights to Beirut and other cities in the region.

Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s right to defend itself, stating, “No country would tolerate such an attack, and Israel has the duty to respond.”
