At least 23 healthcare workers have been killed and 112 others injured in Iran since the start of joint strikes by the United States and Israel, according to figures released by the Iranian Ministry of Health.

The ministry disclosed on Wednesday that the casualties occurred amid ongoing attacks that have also severely impacted the country’s health infrastructure.

Data provided by the government’s Media Information Center showed that 226 medical and health facilities have been damaged, including 12 hospitals that are now completely out of service. Additionally, seven medical centres were evacuated due to their proximity to targeted areas.

Emergency response capacity has also been hit, with 49 emergency bases and 38 ambulances reportedly damaged during the strikes.

Despite the challenges, medical teams have carried out 902 surgeries since the onset of the conflict, while 924 patients remain hospitalised across various facilities.

The escalation began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched coordinated military operations against Iran. The conflict has since claimed more than 1,340 lives, including Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as neighbouring countries including Jordan and Iraq, alongside Gulf states hosting US military assets.

The ongoing hostilities have resulted in civilian casualties, widespread infrastructure damage, and continued disruptions to global markets and international aviation.
