Israel Commemorates Victims of 2023 Hamas Terrorist Attack

1 19

Israel is holding memorial services to honor the victims of the Oct. 7, 2023 terrorist attack carried out by the Islamist group Hamas.

The attack, which shocked the nation, resulted in over 1,200 deaths in southern Israel and the abduction of around 250 hostages to the Gaza Strip.

The commemoration begins with Israeli President Isaac Herzog leading a ceremony with mourning families at the Nova music festival site, marking the start of a three-day memorial journey to various massacre locations.

As the country mourns, there is a divide in how these memorial services are observed. Hostage families are organizing a separate rally in Tel Aviv, timed to coincide with the moment the attack began.

Meanwhile, the Israeli government will broadcast a pre-recorded memorial service from southern Israel.

Due to ongoing security concerns and rocket attack threats, only 1,000 people will be allowed to attend the service in person.

The events will be streamed online and broadcast on special television programs for broader access.
