The Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, the military announced late Thursday.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the strikes targeted two military sites storing Hezbollah weapons in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

“The IDF conducted a precise strike in Lebanese territory on two military sites that contained Hezbollah weapons,” the military stated on social media. “The IDF continues to remove threats to Israel and will prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its forces, in accordance with the ceasefire understanding.”

Independent verification of the attack was not immediately available.

The ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia, brokered in November 2024, was recently extended until Feb. 18, according to the White House. However, tensions remain high, with both sides accusing each other of ceasefire violations.

The planned withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon, initially scheduled within 60 days of the ceasefire, has also been delayed.
