Four humanitarian workers from Save the Children and World Central Kitchen have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza within the past 24 hours, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

In a statement, UN humanitarian coordinator Muhannad Hadi confirmed the deaths, noting that three World Central Kitchen staff members were killed when their vehicle was struck at a distribution site in Khan Younis. The fourth victim, a Save the Children staff member, was killed in a separate airstrike in southern Khan Younis.

“Humanitarian workers in Gaza represent the last lifeline for over two million Palestinians enduring unimaginable conditions—without adequate food, water, sanitation, shelter, health care, or education, and living under the constant threat of violence,” Hadi said.

The UN official added that the ongoing targeting of humanitarian personnel is a grave violation of international law and worsens an already dire humanitarian crisis.

Since the escalation of violence in October 2023, over 330 humanitarian workers have lost their lives in Gaza, according to OCHA.

Hadi called for immediate protection of aid workers, emphasizing the critical role they play in providing essential services in the conflict-ravaged enclave. “The continued killing of humanitarian workers is unacceptable and must stop,” he concluded.

This latest incident underscores the growing risks faced by aid organizations operating in Gaza and the urgent need for increased measures to safeguard their missions.
