Israeli Drone Strike Hits Gas Station in Southern Lebanon, Injures 5

Five people were injured early Friday in an Israeli drone strike that targeted a prefab room on the roof of a gas station in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA).

The attack occurred at dawn, with the drone reportedly firing three missiles at the station located along the road to the town of Houla. The strike caused significant damage and left several people wounded, the agency said.

The incident comes despite a fragile ceasefire that has been in effect since November, following months of intensified clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants. The conflict, which peaked in September, had prompted international mediation to prevent further escalation.

Lebanese officials say Israel has violated the ceasefire nearly 3,000 times, resulting in the deaths of almost 200 people and injuries to around 500 others. As part of the truce terms, Israel was to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by January 26. However, that deadline was pushed to February 18, and Israeli forces continue to occupy five outposts along the border.

The latest strike raises fresh concerns about the durability of the ceasefire and the risk of renewed hostilities in the volatile border region.
