Hezbollah launched its most intense attack in days on Sunday, firing at least 185 rockets and other projectiles into Israel, wounding seven people. The escalation came as negotiators continued efforts to secure a cease-fire to end the ongoing conflict.
In a related incident, an Israeli airstrike hit a Lebanese army center on the coastal road between Tyre and Naqoura, killing one soldier and injuring 18 others, according to Lebanon’s military. The Israeli military expressed regret over the strike, stating it occurred in a combat zone targeting Hezbollah militants and was under review.
Since the start of the war, Israeli strikes have claimed the lives of over 40 Lebanese soldiers, despite Lebanon’s army largely remaining neutral in the conflict.
Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, condemned the attack as a “direct, bloody message rejecting all efforts and ongoing contacts”
