Israeli Strike on South Lebanon Kills 10, Including Children
The death toll from an Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon has risen to 10, including two children, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry and state media on Saturday.
Most of the deceased were Syrian nationals, the ministry reported.
The National News Agency confirmed that the raid targeted a brick mill on the outskirts of Al-Kafour in the Nabatieh district. Earlier reports had suggested that a residential building was hit.
Among the dead was the mill’s caretaker, a Syrian national, and his entire family.
Five others were injured in the strike, with some in critical condition, the ministry added.
The Israeli army stated that its air force had targeted a Hezbollah weapons depot in the Nabatieh area. The military also used artillery in other parts of southern Lebanon to neutralize perceived threats.
The Israeli army is currently reviewing reports of civilian casualties from the strike.
On Friday, an Israeli airstrike in the village of Aitaroun, also in southern Lebanon, killed at least one person and wounded another, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
The Lebanese Hezbollah movement, aligned with Iran, later announced that one of its fighters was killed but did not specify the location or time.
Since the start of the Gaza conflict in October, Hezbollah and Israel have engaged in daily clashes, leading to the deaths of more than 120 civilians, most of whom were on the Lebanese side.
