A startling decline in the JAMB score of a previously high-performing student has ignited conversations online about the credibility of the 2025 UTME results.

Education advocate, Alex Onyia, drew attention to the case via X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the candidate, Michael Inemisit Uduak, who scored 311 in 2024 and 281 in 2023, recorded a much lower score of 148 this year. According to the breakdown, Uduak scored 35 in Use of English, 41 in Physics, 35 in Biology, and 37 in Chemistry.

The dramatic drop in performance has raised eyebrows, with Onyia and several online users questioning the accuracy of the result. “Last two years she scored 281, last year she scored 311, and this year she is scoring 148. This is impossible,” Onyia posted. He urged the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to provide students access to their detailed mark sheets for verification.

Social media users echoed his concerns, speculating about possible system errors or mismanagement in the results processing. Others highlighted the emotional toll on students and criticized the pressure to repeatedly retake JAMB in hopes of gaining admission into highly competitive courses like Medicine.

The situation has also renewed public scrutiny of Nigeria’s tertiary admission system, with many questioning why a student with such previously impressive scores was still sitting for JAMB in 2025.

Calls are growing for increased transparency and reforms to restore public confidence in the examination and admission process.
