JUPEB Delays 2024 Exams to August 19

The Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) has announced the postponement of its 2024 examination.

The board’s Registrar, Prof. Ademola Adeleke, made the announcement in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.

The postponement is due to security concerns arising from the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest, which has affected several states across the country. The examination, originally scheduled for Aug. 5 to Aug. 16, will now take place from Monday, Aug. 19, to Friday, Aug. 30.

“In view of the security situation in some states across the country and the extent to which the constraints on human and vehicular movement would affect the security of our supervisors who have to travel across state boundaries, we are compelled to announce a postponement of the 2024 JUPEB examination,” said Adeleke.

A new examination timetable reflecting the new dates will be circulated as soon as possible. JUPEB Foundation schools in unaffected states are asked to bear with the board to enable simultaneous examinations across all partner and affiliate universities.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the protest, which commenced on Thursday, Aug. 1, is expected to end on Aug. 10.
