Kaduna State Government has inaugurated a steering committee for an international education summit scheduled for July.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the summit, entitled: ‘KADA EDUPACT International Summit 2025’, is a landmark initiative aimed at transforming the state’s education sector.

Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Muhammad Bello, said that the summit was designed to drive transformative change in the state’s education sector, positioning it as a model of educational excellence in Nigeria.

Bello said that the summit would forge an educational pact between the government and the people, thereby establishing a shared model for education delivery, measurable outcomes and clearly defined non-negotiables.

He also said that the summit would feature motivating keynote speakers from distinguished international experts who would provide insights and best practices in education reform.

The commissioner said that the steering committee, which would be chaired by Prof. Usman Zaria, would oversee the summit’s planning and execution, including developing a detailed budget, mobilising funding, coordinating logistics and documenting summit proceedings.

“The committee’s work will culminate in a comprehensive strategy document outlining Kaduna’s Education Development Roadmap, funding needs/sources, implementation plans and accountability measures.

“The summit aims to attract local and international investments in education and shape critical policy decisions,” he said.

The commissioner said the summit would equally address key education sub-themes, including strategies for expanding access to basic education and reintegrating out-of-school children and enhance post-basic and technical/vocational education for employment and economic growth.

“It will strengthen tertiary education and research for innovation, improve policy implementation and governance, leverage EdTech for better learning outcomes and ensuring school safety, security and climate-resilient
infrastructure,” he said.

NAN reports that the committee members include: Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria project
(PLANE), Reaching Out-of-School-Children (ROOSC) project, UNICEF, AGILE and others from the state MDAs.
