Kamala Harris and Tim Walz Launch Campaign with Philadelphia Rally
In Philadelphia on Tuesday evening, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris and her newly chosen running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, kicked off their campaign with a spirited rally. The event marked Harris’s first public appearance since being officially nominated as the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate through a virtual roll call.
“Today, I am proud to declare that I am officially the Democratic nominee for president of the United States,” Harris announced to an enthusiastic crowd, standing alongside Walz. “Now, we have some work to do. We have to move to the general election and win that.”
Introducing Walz, Harris praised his ability to make people feel included and inspire big dreams. “That’s the kind of vice president he will be. And that’s the kind of vice president America deserves,” she stated.
Walz expressed his gratitude to Harris and addressed the crowd, saying, “Thank you for bringing back the joy.” He added, “We’ve got 91 days. My God, that’s easy. We’ll sleep when we’re dead.”
