Kano State Government has set strict guidelines for Eid-el-Fitr durbar to prevent breakdown of law and order, following credible intelligence reports of attempts to create confusion.
This is contained in a statement issued by Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, in Kano on Wednesday.
Waiya said the government approved modified celebrations, including Hawan Idi and Hawan Nasarawa, while suspending other activities.
He said security agencies were directed to intensify surveillance and ensure compliance to security arrangements.
“The government, after consulting with the Kano Emirate Council and stakeholders, approves the Hawan Idi: Led by Sarkin Kano Muhammad Sanusi II, from Kofar Mata Eid Ground to Kano Emir’s Palace,” he said.
He further said that Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi were suspended for public peace and safety.
“Security agencies have been directed to intensify surveillance, ensure compliance, and prevent breaches of peace during Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
“Residents are urged to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative, avoid unverified information and conduct normal activities peacefully.
“The government appreciates security agencies’ efforts and wishes Muslims a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr,” he said.
