The Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, has commended the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) for its food assistance initiative, facilitated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to support vulnerable households in the state.

Speaking at the distribution flag-off in Birnin Kebbi, the governor—represented by his deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar—praised NEMA for its consistent and timely response to disasters, highlighting the significance of the aid arriving just days before Ramadan, a period symbolizing sacrifice and compassion.

NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by the Director of Special Duties, Mrs. Fatima Kasim, noted that KSrelief has partnered with the agency since 2018 to provide food support to households affected by insecurity. However, this marks the first time Kebbi State is benefiting from the initiative.

She disclosed that 2,450 households in the state have been profiled to receive the assistance, with each household allocated a 59.8-kilogram food basket containing rice, beans, masa vita, cooking oil, and seasoning. She emphasized that the effort aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to improving citizens’ welfare and reducing vulnerability to disasters.

The distribution, conducted by NEMA in collaboration with the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency, covered vulnerable households in Birnin Kebbi, Dandi, Gwandu, Shonga, Argungu, and Augie Local Government Areas.
