The Kogi State Government has announced the reopening of all public and private schools across the state, with academic activities set to resume on Monday, February 23, 2026, following an emergency mid-term break.

Schools were shut indefinitely on February 3 as a preventive measure against rising insecurity in the state.

The resumption directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday by Mr. Matthew Salami, Director of Basic and Secondary Education in the state Ministry of Education. He urged school heads, parents, students and the general public to take note of the resumption date.

According to the statement, all academic and boarding activities will continue as normal, and both day and boarding students are expected to return on the scheduled date.

“The announcement applies to all schools in the state. The ministry appreciates the cooperation of students, parents and staff during the period of the break. Further information will be communicated later,” Salami said.

The government also reassured residents of its commitment to ensuring the safety of students and staff as schools resume activities across the state.
