Korra Obidi Dances at Fela Kuti’s Graveside, Calls It a Tribute
Popular dancer and singer Korra Obidi has stirred reactions online after sharing a video of herself dancing at the grave of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Obidi, who recently arrived in Nigeria from the United States, visited the late musician’s resting place during a stop at the New Afrika Shrine, where she spent time with Fela’s youngest son, Seun Kuti.
In the video circulating on social media, the entertainer is seen dancing and twerking at Fela’s graveside. Explaining her actions, Obidi described the dance as an “offering,” saying it was something the late Afrobeat pioneer enjoyed when he was alive.
The clip has since generated mixed reactions online, with some viewers defending it as artistic expression, while others criticised the act as disrespectful.
