Kuwait’s air defence systems have successfully intercepted nine ballistic missiles and four drones within its airspace over a 24-hour period, authorities confirmed on Saturday.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense said all incoming threats were neutralised without causing casualties or material damage.

In a statement posted on X, the ministry’s spokesperson, Colonel Staff Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan, disclosed that the missiles were detected and engaged as they entered Kuwaiti airspace. He added that air defence units responded swiftly, ensuring all nine ballistic missiles were destroyed.

The spokesperson further revealed that four hostile drones were also identified and intercepted by Kuwait’s defence network during the same period.

The interceptions come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Kuwait and other Arab nations facing repeated aerial threats reportedly linked to Iran. Previous incidents have resulted in infrastructure damage and civilian casualties across parts of the region.

The latest developments are tied to the broader military escalation involving United States, Israel, and Iran, which has intensified since late February.

Authorities in Kuwait City have not reported any disruptions following the interceptions, as security agencies remain on high alert amid ongoing threats.
